Goals in a nutshell
SADP-Nepal has outlined the overall goals of the organization which shall be achieved between 1 to 15 years timeframe. Basically, these are the guidelines that encourages us everyday to work. Working tirelessly for 15 years we as an organization want to make a huge positive impacts across Nepal. We want to handover scenarios with the sustainable and regenerative agricultural farms, better soil health, enhanced food security, recharged ground water level, bigger carbon sink with more trees, cleaner water bodies, great markets for agro-products, environment friendly agro-technologies to the next generation of farmers.
Promote Organic and Regenerative Agriculture
Everything begins here. SADP-Nepal aims to begin with promoting organic, regenerative, and agroecological farming systems that enhance soil health, conserve biodiversity, boost ecosystem resilience, and create sustainable food production throughout Nepal.
Enhance Farmers’ Capacity
Ignorance is bliss but in farming ignorance can ruin the core of human existence by degrading the soil health to the degree from where the food security can never be achieved again. So we aim to offer training, technical support, and practical demonstrations to farmers, youth, women, and agricultural entrepreneurs on organic and regenerative farming practices so that the introduction of toxic substances into soil is eliminated and healthy food keeps on coming to the plates for everyone for as long as possible.
Improve Soil Health and Natural Resource Management
When the soil with rich natural fertilizers mixes with water magic happens. Nature has been offering bounties for ages. We aim to make sure this process continues. We aim to work with the farmers for sustainable management of soil, water, forests, and other natural resources through environmentally friendly agricultural practices.
Strengthen Climate-Resilient Agriculture
SADP-Nepal aims to support climate-smart and regenerative farming approaches together with the farmers by adapting it. It helps regenerate top soil health, ecosystem and suppresses carbon emission into the environment.
Conserve Indigenous Seeds and Species and Agricultural Biodiversity
To preserve, multiply, and promote indigenous seeds and animal species, local crop varieties, traditional livestock breeds, and agricultural biodiversity is one of our prime goals.
Promote Food and Nutrition Security
Nepal has been the agricultural hub of producing super foods for ages. We used to harvest plenty of crops of high value nutrition. Though Nepal is deviating from its core for a while but still it holds plenty of scope to revive those crops and moreover, it has the scope of producing new varieties of high nutrition food plants almost everywhere. Educating farmers and working with them shall solve the problem and eventually we will succeed to improve household food security and nutritional outcomes through diversified organic farming systems and healthy food production.
Develop Organic Value Chains and Market Access
Agricultural products are mostly perishable in a very short time. However, infusing the traditional and health friendly new technologies can significantly add life to these high value foods. Our aim is to cater the fresh products to the consumers as well as value added packed healthy foods. WE aim to facilitate market linkages, organic certification, value addition, branding, and fair trade opportunities for organic producers and farmer groups.
Empower Women and Rural Youth
Unemployment rate in Nepal is high and significantly growing higher every year and yet the huge portion of farmable landmass and water bodies are abandoned for years. Here we would like step in and create the economic opportunities for women and youth through sustainable agriculture, agribusiness development, leadership training, and entrepreneurship programs. Our simple belief is that every creature including humans need to eat and eat healthy.
Support Research, Innovation, and Knowledge Sharing
Our aim is to collaborate with academicians and scholars of Agricultural Institutions to conduct participatory research, document best practices, and promote innovation in organic and regenerative agriculture. We want to explore every possible area of regenerative organic farming to fill the gap between opportunities and necessities within the Nepalese communities.
Establish Organic Resource and Learning Centers
SADP-Nepal wants to develop community-based resource centers and demonstration farms that serve as hubs for learning, innovation, and farmer-to-farmer knowledge exchange.
Advocate for Organic Agriculture Policies
Our goal is also to collaborate with related government agencies, civil societies, and international partners to promote policies, standards, and investments that support organic and regenerative agriculture.
Promote Sustainable Rural Livelihoods
Life of a farmer in Nepal is challenging. It is so because of multiple reasons and as non-profit social organization we aim to step in and make a huge impact in the livelihoods of these rural farmers. We would do it by working with them together in all times from planting to harvesting the crop to ultimately selling it with the application of organic regenerative farming method.
Encourage Agro-Tourism and Eco-Tourism
Tourism in Nepal is a major industry and rural tourism blended with authentic culture and agriculture has a huge scope. It definitely supports the earning of rural farmers and promotes this segment of tourism in Nepal.
Strengthen National and International Partnerships
To build partnerships and networks with farmers, cooperatives, universities, NGOs, government agencies, donors, and international organizations working in sustainable agriculture.
Contribute to Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)
To support Nepal’s efforts in achieving the Sustainable Development Goals, particularly those related to poverty reduction, food security, climate action, environmental conservation, and sustainable livelihoods.
